After years of being based in Homer, Neb., Earl Miller Construction has moved to a brand new building in North Sioux City.

The 6,000-square-foot building at 201 N. Sioux Point Road features a spacious kitchen/meeting room, a bathroom, and ample warehouse space for storage.
The kitchen/meeting room is where all the employees gather before they go out on jobs in the mornings and where they will have quarterly meetings. The room is furnished with cabinets and laminate

countertops from House of Kitchens, black appliances from Kollman Appliance, a heater/air conditioner unit, and vinyl sheet flooring from Menards. It also showcases a 100-year-old oak table that has been in Earl Miller's family. Originally purchased at Remsen Furniture, the table has several leaves and tilts on its side to easily maneuver through doorways.

The full bath has a sink, toilet and shower. It also houses the water heater.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, “A place for everything, everything in its place.” With this new facility, Earl Miller Construction now has a place for all of the tools and supplies they use on jobs.
The building features a cleanup area complete with a double sink for washing up drywall and paint, a work bench for repairing tools and fixing small parts, an organizer for nuts, bolts, washers and screws, and several shelves.
The shelves display materials for applying paints, stains and finishes, laying ceramic tile, removing wallpaper, taping and texturing drywall, applying roofing and siding, forming and pouring concrete, performing landscaping jobs, and more. Some shelves hold power tools, plumbing and electrical supplies, and caulk.

Racks provide a place for storing different sizes of lumber, sheetrock, plywood and trim.
Hooks are used to hang up rakes, shovels, ladders and other landscaping tools.
All the shelves are labeled so employees know where everything goes.
The well-insulated facility with a furnace offers floor drains and five stalls for parking vehicles. Each stall features its own garage door with door opener for easy access.

“We can back our trucks in to unload them, use the dumpster to get rid of stuff, and reload the trucks. It saves time,” said Earl Miller, owner of Earl Miller Construction.
Earl Miller Construction moved into the new building on Jan. 1. Miller emphasized that they will continue to offer the same level of service that customers have come to expect. They will still visit customers in their home to give estimates.
“Nothing's changed, except for our location,” he said.
